Ray really has a way with words. He should be publishing his memoirs in his own unique style. He could put Hemingway to shame and give Capstick a good run for the money. His editor would have to uphold the standard by not editing out the Atkinsonisms. They are reminiscent of Mark Twain as Bwana.

I dare say he might start a new genre of literature.

I agree Bwana Ron. One of the most endearing facets of Capstick was his wonderful wit and humor. Similarly, Rays' style often leaves me in stitches. Combined with his vast experience and solid reputation, he may well come up with a great one.

Damn,
Thanks guys, actually I was bit by a blue gum when I was a child in the jungles of Ethopia and that comes as a result of such bites, not something I was born with....

I to love to read Ray's posts. There is always something there to ponder or laugh about. either way I always have a good read.
I also search out posts from you guys to. The running threads on the BS. factor are great.
So I think we need terms like Ronism & Nickism, and be thankfull we don't have any posters called Orgas!

X-Ring,
Thanks, my friend, but I think Ray is in a class of his own. He is outstanding in his field, and he is probably looking for varmints and big game whenever he is out standing in a field, probably wearing camoflage too, if not the khaki bwana attire.

Ray is indeed the Grand Marshal of what we as hunters and big bore worshippers cherish. I also urge Ray to put his experiences and wisdom in print. Often I have gained valuable advice from Ray, both directly and indirectly, that has helped my everyday activities in the gun shop. Ray and I sometimes exchange emails for private discussions off the board, his experience and opinions are invaluable.

Age is fine as long as you don't get caught with your fly down and say don't worry lady what can't get up can't get out.

That last one reminds me of an old Johnny Carson episode when he asked George Burns what it was like to be so old (I think he had just turned 90). George's reply, "Ever shoot pool with a piece of rope?" Classic...

I like his style also. He just tells it like it is and don't try to cover it up. He also has the experience to back it up.

I could'nt agree more about Mr. Atkinson's posts. I actually go through posts that I'm not even interested in just to find a few Atkinsonisms. I also read Col. Cooper's Commentaries for a similar curmudgeonly view of the world. Enjoy them both. Regards, Matt.
