Hey Nick,

Pictures are worth a thousand words, maybe more with a conscience.

Thanks for that. About the Sioux picture, what was that line from the Costner Baseball movie? "Is this heaven"?

In my view, the thread title "Their Paradise Lost" was long applicable, at the time the science of photography made its' debut. These old hunters are merely clinging to the few remaining freedoms and inate pleasures, despite the tools of the whiteman, in evidence. Today's majority, will turn their thoughts to the tribes "west of the Mississippi", when reflecting upon the plight of our, so-called, "Native Americans". The oft superior tribes of the eastern forests and river valleys running westward, towards the "Mother of Rivers", are largely overlooked by all but the most interested observer. A series of books that I most strongly reccommend is from, master story teller, Allan Eckert, in his highly acclaimed saga of our Nation's westward conquest:

"The Frontersmen"
"Wilderness Empire"
"The Conquerors"
"The Wilderness War"
"Gateway To Empire"
"Twilight Of Empire" and his major biography:
"A Sorrow In Our Heart: The Life Of Tecumseh"

Eckerts writing skills are passable, considering the complexity, but his dedication to research is astounding. Anyone desiring clearer insight to the lives and ways of those who first peopled this land should consider his series of narratives, in the order listed.

I can't get them to appear, either. Just the small square outline with the red "X" in the center.
