Due to the apparent problem some members are having with the quality/ferociousness of game other members are posting, should sticter guidelines be established.Should the admin staff of the ARF establish guidelines for the content of pictures of game that members of the site have killed on their hunts?Only record Book Quality animals should be displayed on AR.Only DG should be displayed on AR.Any animal that anyone killed and is proud of should be allowed.

Thanks GW. It is my 257R. He was the only legal deer I saw last year on my land in East Texas. Antler restricted county and I didn't see a monster so I took the funny looking deer with a nub on one side. He was the tastiest deer I've had in some time. Not sure if it was the processor in Mount Pleasant or the deer.

I am just not real sure anymore. I mean there is not a lot of mass to the antlers and surely that animal would not be considered dangerous in the "real world" of "Real Hunters".

I looked for this picture for about 10 minutes before I found it. It was no where near a feeder nor behind a fence, (the picture that is).




Does that qualify as hunting?

Once you have seen 10 photos of run of the mill dead deer, bear, antelope, pig, squirrel, etc etc. You have pretty much seen them all. You might be proud of what you shot... great! But I certainly don't need a photo in order to imagine what it might look like laided out dead in the dirt.

Its like having to look thru other folks skiing holiday snaps. mildly entertaining for the first 60 seconds. After that the boredom levels start to increase exponentially. Wow! More snow aye!

I can see your point. Looking at vacation photos of your friends can be a little boring sometimes but you oooh and ahhh anyway to be polite. At least 99% of people would do that just to be polite. Here on the internet, you can choose not to look. If you do look, the only thing you need to do to be polite is not make a negative comment. You can even make no comment and be polite. Seems like fairly simple task for an educated open minded gentleman.

I do as a routine follow the course of action you advise. However in this particular occassion the OP did pose the question. I replied to that question.

Normally when being shown vaction, hunting successes, baby photo's I simply make the appropriate noises for the firt few then make my excuses to go visit the bathroom, or go check on the dogs/boiler/bbq/stew pot/sunset, etc. On internet forums I just skip to the next post unless something worth comment catches my eye as I scroll down. I try to always be polite, even when making a negtive comment. Personally I don't mind comments either positive or negative. They help the conversation along and add a touch of flavour. As long as they are polite.

I guess I'm just not the sensitive type!

Could have done without the moose on a noose photo. But would have liked a photo showing how close or how far away you were when you popped a cap in its ass and a note saying wheather it took more than one.

Processing an 800lb carcass is one hell of a chore if you don't have the necessary equipment. I worked for a short spell in an small abattoir/game dealers. Sheep/pigs/smaller deer species were no prolem. Beef cattle and big woodland red deer were heavy going.

Deal with the photo, Jools, but the state weighs them and this was a photo of that process. First shot was about 100 yards and lethal (double lung), but I shot until she dropped. Moose tend not to react......

Geedubya -- we took her to a butcher as I had to get on the road back to the south. I split meat with the outfitter as I don't have the freezer capacity for so much meat. I got steak off of her -- lots of steak!

Most of the stuff we shoot is 300 lbs. and under, consequently it can be handled rather easily. I've skinned and quartered five or six fair sized hogs and once a half dozen rams at one "sitting". By the time I was finished I knew I'd "been there".

I do know that by the end of the season I'm much more proficient at getting the job done than at the beginning. Funny how going even a month without performing the ritual dulls the senses.

I keep two freezers in my garage. I bet that would have filled them both and then some. Boned out that would probably have been around 240 lbs of "meat". That could be turned into an easy hundred pounds of jalepeno cheese salami and link sausage, not to mention all the other stuff.
