The boys and I went elk hunting today. We got to the top of the mountain and the boys tell me they are ready to go. I told them we could have lunch at the top then go. We start eating and I told them to stay put for a few minutes while I go a little further down the trail. About 200 yards into the woods I spot 6 elk running above me then they turn and come right to me. The lead cow got to within about 10 feet of me and then sees me and turns. They were 5 cows and a spike bull. I can only shoot brow tined bulls there but the boys can shoot cows. I am thinking they are wishing they went a little further down the trail. It was still a fun trip. -------------------- THANOS WAS RIGHT!

Great pics. Thanks for sharing. That one bull in the second pic is a dandy. One of the guys I work with had a cow tag for a local unit and said all he saw there were bulls. Some of them pretty big. No wonder the bull tag there is so hard to draw. -------------------- THANOS WAS RIGHT!

Soiunds like you are having a great time. The boss and his daughter are in the Pecos Wilderness this week trying for elk and bear. Even the rocks don't last forever.

At least you got to see some. Where I live, all I ran into yesterday was just about a solid wall of orange vests and out of state hunters. (That wasn't a dig, I like to see that hunters still come and try) Trying to find a place where there wasn't already someone sitting or walking. I guess it will be horses in the high country later in the week for me.
