Great deer. Wonder if it had a name. The link says it was killed in Wisconsin. If he shot that outside of a fence the deer should have a bright yellow tag attached to the antlers or a metal registration tag. If not we have photographic evidence of a violation as no animal can be moved before attaching a tag in the state of Wisconsin.

That took just a few minutes. Wilderness Whitetails outside of Stevens point Wisconsin.

Picture is from their "trophy" gallery. This buck only cost ten grand.

Should have known. I love the page where you can buy semen from the buck of your choice. These operations are a disgrace in my opinion.

C'mon guys.....don't be so harsh. Damn.

I'm doing an internship with a guy out in West Texas this summer and I'll be working with a deer breeding facility. In fact, I went out there for 2 days in December to help them A.I. 17 does.

DC,

Where do you suppose we get the semen? It's illegal to collect semen from a wild deer, therefore it must be purchased from a breeder, or collected from your own private herd.

Don't be so quick to judge. Do everyone a favor and experience something before you decide to bash it.

I've seen them up close. There is nothing wrong with breeding deer, but there is something wrong with shooting deer that would eat out of your hand. I've seen elk "hunting" ranches in Saskatchewan and the elk wouldn't even lift their heads to look at you from 20 yards away. Some sport. These types of breeding operations are reducing whitetails to glorified farm animals.

I took a picture of my wife with her new Dodge Avenger she TOOK at the local dodge dealership.

She had a smile on her face just like the proud owner of the above buck.

The only differance was she TOOK her TROPHY on a lot that was not high fenced and all the cars were free range and anyone could HUNT them.

Well, I don't have any experience with Wilderness Whitetails in particular. But as far as I know, that deer was not raised in a pen. I believe their main "preserve" is 2,000 acres.....hardly a pen. The blood in his veins might have been improved with genetics from pen bred deer, but I believe that was a self-sustaining buck, free on 2,000 acre of woods. I'm admitting up front that I don't know this for sure, so don't hold me to it. But I'm just curious, would you approve of the scenario I just described above more so than if he was a pen raised deer?

Watch the 2006 & 2007 highlight videos on their website, the deer they're hunting are absolutely NOT tame, and are not even close to being the type of deer that would eat out of your hand.

I know the deer I'm working with in the breeder pens out in San Angelo aren't even tame. It took us 45 minutes to get close enough to a particular buck to dart him in a 4.5 acre pen. They even have full blown fights in the pens. I'm sure some places are different, and some deer which are bottle fed are actually tame, but the one's I've worked with aren't.

Not trying to sound like a know-it-all or anything.....just trying to shed a little light on the subject. Maybe someone will gain from my experience.

2000 Acre High Fence...is still a pen full of giant deer you can BUY......still a bunch of shit to me.

.
I looked at the link above to thier homepage its cut a dried ((You BUY a deer here)) and the prices are by the inch.

.
Look if you have the money spend it how you wish. I myself am glad to see these people can buy them a deer. Most of us hunt WILD deer and IMO an avarage 8 or 10 pointer killed wild ranks above these fenced in deer.

To me it is like a guy saying he is the worlds best pheasant hunter and his dogs are the best pheasant hunting dogs in the world. Then they find out that this worlds best pheasant hunter hunts in a chicken pen.
While these HUGE pen raised animals are cool to look at in a zoo kind of way. The hunter killing a pen raised pet like this one must feel like he really did something great.
I feel the same way about posse hunting.

I forgot to add, the red and black shirt was a nice touch. Now that makes him look like a hunter. Ron

"These great deer were ALL born and raised on our Wilderness Game Farm. Many of the 300+ inch bucks in the industry also come from our genetics."

Industry? Pen raised trophies?

The shooter must be soo proud!

I'd rather shoot a free ranging forkhorn.

On one hand, I guess I don't really care if people "hunt" this way. On the other hand, I think these things hurt us in the public arena.

Nothing wrong with hunting preserves. I have even hunted them. The problem is these guys thinking they are some great trophy hunter. All those big racks prove is you have more money than most other hunters. As I said I have hunted preserves. Won't see me smiling in pictures like I am some great hunter. I have gone strictly on meat hunts whitetail does. Nothing more than grocery shopping with a rifle. I actually hunted though. If a preserve is done right you do have to hunt in the sense that you still have to hunt out the right animal. Beyond that your not hunting. As far as the preserves with tame critters named critters or release and shoot the same day operations they should be shut down. Again I don't agree with trophy hunting preserves. But when done right I cannot condemn those who do.

I agree with pretty much everything you said. I have hunted a preserve twice with a bow for female exotics which made it a challenge. Those were great hunts.

You buy your buck you hunt for it really can't exscape. It can run and hide a bit. You don't have to worry about another hunter on the next property killing.

True hunting no killing yes If one wants to spend his or her money doing such I say let them. But surely don't brag on how great a hunter you are killing dozens of B@C or P@Y bucks in your life.
