Here's a video of a guy killing a bear while on the ground with a spear.

Enjoyed the vid until the a/h started jumping up n down, dancing and such disgusting crap.

Sure, I'm glad he made a good killing throw but, all that bullshit plumb ruined it for me.

Are you kidding me?

I have to agree with George about the BS celebration.

The most dangerous bear is one that has no fear of humans? When we had open dumps in the UP, there were bears that did not pay you any mind. That bear had no fear of humans. Kind of like spearing a domestic hog coming for the slops.

Did I mention I am not impressed?

Pretty cool IMO.

Too bad the GoPro made the bear look like it was 100 yds away. Why they don't make them with more normal perspective lens, I don't know.

I agree the "happy dance" was a little weird, but I still have to give the guy credit (although I'm not totally convinced the guy was without backup).

Still pretty cool feat.

I watched it pretty close, I think the guy was actually pretty emotional after the throw and the knowledge that all of his hard work finally paid off really impacted him. (listen carefully to the tone of his voice) It actually reminded me of my reaction on the first wolf that I called in and killed. He EARNED that bear! He was also one of the few people on the earth with a skill set to make this a real hunt and not just a stunt like most spear videos seem to be.

People do react in different ways after killing a trophy animal.

I am not an overly-emotional type, and when I killed my one and only elephant, one carrying close to 120 lbs of ivory, I just shaked the hands of the PH and trackers and thanked them for their expertise, and took a slow walk around the animal.

I didn't smile or seem happy and one of the Asst PH, asked me why I wasn't more happy. I just told him, I get a quiet satisfaction out of competently taking the animal and have a deep respect for the animal I just killed.

It's been over 13 years and I still remember every nuisance of that particular hunt, and the final chase and shots that killed the ellie. That's just my way of enjoying my hunts.

Jumping around and doing a "happy dance" is just not my style, and to be honest, seems a little girlish to me, but I am an old man, raised in a different time.

But killing a bear with a spear is still something to be respected by all hunters, I believe.
