What is the hunting situation down around the Trinidad area? I have spent a lot of time in Colorado Over the years, and hunted around Gunnison quite a bit. Last weekend traveled through the Trinidad / Raton area for the first time. I like it. Just wondering what the opportunities there look like.

I hunted that area while in gunsmith school. Lots of Elk and over the counter tags. Plenty of land as well.

Seems like there is some good hunting in the region. I've only hunted it once on a turkey tag. While chasing turkey's that spring, I saw elk, deer, and bear. I would think a well thought out location should yield great results.

I hunted there with full draw outfitters. We saw elk everyday. Also mule deer antelope and one bear.
It was all private land though.
