Hi all - Any good recommendation for a cheap Pronghorn hunt, ideally that can be combined with something else. Not really interested in monster trophies. Just on the hunt and the species. Many thanks in advance, as always.

Wyoming mule deer and antelope. Both inhabit the same area and with a little research can be hunted on your own. A very cheap hunt. Pay a small trespass fee to a rancher and have thousands of acres to hunt.

Many thanks for this, Schall53. Any tip on where to start looking? It will be my first time hunting in the US. Regards, Bharal76

Hey Bharal, I second the Wyoming antelope/mule deer idea. Depending on the unit, the seasons overlap. Applying for the draw is not as strait forward as it sounds. Different units have different draw odds, seasons, and even premium vs non premium draw pools. Enough to make your head spin. If antelope is your must have, you should look at units that have a 100% draw at zero points for either the general or premium pool. Most of those units are in the north of the state. Once you find a few of those units, look at public access. Then overlay the deer units to see if they align. If they do, you are in luck. Keep in mind most good units with lots of public access require preference points to 100% draw. Lots of moving parts. Been doing many years, and it's still hard to keep ahead of the game. But my boys and I still manage to take good bucks on public land DIY hunts about every year. There should be plenty of spots to throw a line for a trout or two. Cast and blast sound good? There is also plenty of prairie dogs to shoot on the antelope grounds. PM me if I can help you in any way. Good luck "You only gotta do one thing well to make it in this world" - J Joplin
