Here are some more examples how Smith and Herrero cook the books to make look more effective. In the most famous of the firearms and bear studies, “Efficacy of Firearms for Bear Deterrence in Alaska” (1883 to 2009), the purpose was not to determine how effective firearms are in defense against bears. It was to find ways in which firearms did not work in defense against bears. https://www.ammoland.com/2024/...rms-in-bear-attacks/

A good number of bear attacks involve surprise and there is no opportunity to Use either. I carry both. When the horse has been eliminated, human life may be extended an average of five or more years. James R. Doolitle I think they've been misunderstood. Timothy Tredwell

A old wife's tale that has been disproven. Just because one is unprepared does not mean they didn't have time. Most of the time when some one says I didn't have time. Means they didn't think it could happen to them. Their defensive weapon was inaccessible or carried in manner making it hard to reach. They did not have the mind, skill, or equipment set to defend themselves. A person that carries spray, handgun properly and is practiced only need two or less seconds to use it. A long gun in your hands with a loaded chamber. Can be fired accurately in under a second. Just because some one has not practice or has not trained themselves to react properly doesn't been they did not have time. It means they were unprepared to do so.
