Northern Rockies wolf populations continue to rise

BILLINGS, Mont. - Wolf populations continue to surge in the Northern Rockies, more than a decade after the animals were reintroduced to the region. A tentative count of 1,545 wolves was released Friday, marking a 19 percent increase over last year.

Weren't we just told the population would level off?

What is interesting is that with a 19% growth rate, the feds have killed over a 100 just in Wy. in the last 6 months. Now with a 100 killed and still expanding at 19%, it won't be long and there will be more wolves than black bears.

And eddie bangs was astounded with a 15% growth rate and a yearly claim they will level off and actually go backwards in population numbers! He is as full of shit, as an iowan college professor!

"We've got more wolves in more places than we thought we'd ever have," said Ed Bangs, who heads the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's Northern Rockies wolf recovery program.

What??? Didn't they tell use the wolves would disperse and find new territories, food? With the original wolves covering most of the U.S., why wouldn't they spread out and follow the livestock food?

They also report the numbers of livestock killed so far this year is down, while the numbers of wolves killed in response is up.

At the rate they are tracking, wolves will kill almost as much livestock as last year with more wolves being taken out faster possibly exceeding last years total wolf kill. Interesting.

Maybe we need to bring back the vast herds of Buffalo (30 million +), Elk and Deer for them to kill.
