There was a post here awhile back concerning the Rifle used on the Chadwick Ram. I was just out in Cody and took another look at the Rifle (and the Mount). The Rifle is a Gebruder Mauser & CIE made in Oberndorf and Modified by Hoffman Arms of Cleveland. it is a .404 (10.75 X 73 rimless). It has a quarter rib with three sights, and has a scpoe as well. Chadwick used Hoffman Cartridges on the hunt.
By the way, the museum has now went ahead and had the World Record Desert Bighorn Full Mounted. They used to display just the horns, but now went out and purchased a full skin and had the thing mounted. It, along with the Chadwick Ram, are both magnificent (this was the sixth time I have looked at them and I would go look at them again).
Speaking of Sheep, is anyone here a member of the Foundation for North American Wild Sheep. If so, I would be interested in hearing what you feel you benefit from your membership.
I'm a member of FNAWS and GSCO. I recently posted here about the split, trying to find out if anyone had any info. Either there is no info or no interest. I am only a FNAWS member in order to be eligible for the 3/4 slam drawing sponsored by GSCO, but requiring FNAWS membership. I have had a hard time coming up with anything substantial that FNAWS does. It is my belief that that is the reason Campbell resigned his BOD position at FNAWS and split the GSCO off independently. I probably will not renew my FNAWS membership, as it no longer will be a requirement for the 3/4 slam drawing(s).
