Okay so this will be a free for all. No right or wrong answer just let me hear your suggestions. But let me set the scene for you: The Rifle/Handgun is a 16 1/4" Barreled T/C Encore. Now given the inherent velocity limits (I have yet to chrono anything), and the fact that long shots (past 150 yds), in general will not be necessary or even offered. So what bullet would you guys recommend. Sorry, their is one stipulation: I am not fond of Ballistic Tips for hunting. They are accurate but just not my choice. Thanks, Sean.

Any Partition over 90 grs, I'm jealous sounds like a perfect little lite rifle. Mike ------------------

I have used 120gr partition, 115gr TBB and 117gr Hornady RN to take both roedeer and sikadeer and have been very pleased with all of them. My .250 AI has a 23" barrel with a 1-10" twist. I your TC will shoot the heavy bullets well you should give them a try. Velocityloss due to the short barrel won't matter much at 150 yds. If they don't shoot well I would go with the 100gr partition. Regards Martin

I dont shoot the "short rifles" but I can say that I have taken quite a few game animals with the 250 savage... it is one of my favorite small bores. I generally stay away from the 120s. I am assuming you want to hunt deer... the rem, and hornadys work well along with the partition. I have shot NUMEROUS wild hogs some upto 300 lbs with partition. Its a shame that the 250-3000 isnt more popular... It was the original high velo deer/varmint cartridge, and very popular before the 243 pushed it aside.

I've had great luck with the 100 gr. Core-Lokt and the 100 gr. silvertips on both deer and elk in years past...I have used the 85 gr. Barnes X a couple of times and it seem to work just fine and will shoot thru a deer lenthwise. ------------------
