Is this a good price? 7 days in unit 4 for $4995 all included and New Mexico landowner elk tag $570 dollars included in price of hunt. Says 85% chance of 270" to 360" Bull. "Science only goes so far then God takes over."

Depends on the ranch, accomodations, elk herd. My buddy has a great place in Unit 4. His hunts are going for 9K. Where is the place you are talking about? Name of the outfit?

Hell of a lot of difference in a 270 and a 360 bull. For $4995 I would betcha 90% of them are 270-280 bulls, if not 95%. I hunt NM and the plain truth, in any state, is that a hunt at that price will get you a decent bull, but not a monster.

I agree. If you are after a "first bull", or just wanting the experience, go for it. If you are wanting a realistic chance at a 325" or better type bull, better put another 2-4k on the deal IMHO.

There's no monsters in 4. 360 would be a monster

Unit 4 is Chama. Pancho LTC, USA, RET "Participating in a gun buy-back program because you think that criminals have too many guns is like having yourself castrated because you think your neighbors have too many kids." Clint Eastwood Give me Liberty or give me Corona.

The Outfit is Cache Creek Outfitters and it seems the hunt may actually take place with Chama River Outfitters. Something like that "Science only goes so far then God takes over."

Here are a couple of reviews, one bad and one good: http://www.huntinfo.com/outfit...w-details/1256479293 http://www.huntandfishfinders....iver-outfitters.html Promo video for the outfitter: PART 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-i_sog098hA PART 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9qkUrqG17Ck PART 3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...likc&feature=related ______________________ I don't shoot elk at 600 yards for the same reasons I don't shoot ducks on the water, or turkeys from their roosts. If this confuses you then you're not welcome in my hunting camp.

One of the men that worked for me booked a cheap bull elk hunt in New Mexico. I can't remember the outfitter. Between he and his friend they saw one bull which was exactly the same number of times he saw the Outfitter. The Outfitter dropped them off, moved them about three days later, and that was that. They were pretty unhappy. They were hunting near Reserve, New Mexico.
