An honest to goodness 6"+ front track off of a Black Bear's front wheel drive.

Had been keeping tabs on it for a week or so,in hopes of putting my oldest(10)Son on it's owner.

 -

That's a short way of saying he was rewarded for those efforts.

 -

His "itty-bitty" 7-08 capably handled the task ala 140XLC(which exited after busting both fronts).

Some quick figures,are as follows:

He squared 7'4",had a 56" chest girth which equates to a calculated 502lb live weight, had a 31.5" head circumference in front of his ears,a slightly better than 15" mid-muzzle circumference and a dainty little noggin' that green scored 21-4/16".

Pretty proud over here and just a little too good not to share...........................

Hey Big Stick, Congratulations to both you and your son. Quite a fine Trophy Bear.

From the look on your son's face, I think Ray is correct about him being tuckered out. Did you make him "drag it out" or what??? [Wink]

He got three backpack loads outta the deal and we had to cross a creek that allowed him but a couple inches of freeboard on his chest waders.

Both of our asses were dragging, after the work was completed. He was excited enough,to not mutter a word during the ordeal.

I had high hopes of putting him on a Bruiser and was lucky enough to ring that bell. Better lucky than good, that'd be my motto. The God's smiled and the kid delivered................

Nice bear!

How does the formula work to estimate a bear's weight?

I always compare them to myself..If I can't put my arms around his chest, he's a good bear! [Wink]

Holy bear! That's a big one. Doh!

I've seen a couple honest 6" tracks, but never had the pleasure of measuring the pad that left it. What a beast! Your boy is lucky to have a great dad showing him the things you do. Congrats!
