Frank..I had one crap out on me just before our trip to Alaska last month. I think the ignitors are the weak point on the thermacells. I just went and got another one....I am going to mess with the old one some more before I toss it out though.

If there is a way to fix them I would sure like to know too!

Found this video that may be useful - seems easy enough to try to fix these. Fast forward to 2:55 to see the part where he explains what he thinks often causes this problem. Good luck.

Mosquito repelling device that really works, if you can get it to ignite!

They have mixed reviews. I have one that never would ignite. I now just take two B-1 tablets an hour before the hunt in the morning and use one or two of those OFF Clip-on things. My last hog hunt in the Florida swamps at the end of July and I had one bite after sitting in the stand for hours. The Thermacell guys all had more. The Clip-on works while you are walking in as well as sitting. B-1 is what is in the mosquito repellant patches.

I didn't know you didn't have to hold it upside down and push the igniter 15 or 20 times watching and listening for it to catch.

The best use we have for one is at the camp doorway. The combination of overhang, south facing deck really holds the skeeters. Set the thermacell at the door and few of them make it in to buzz my ears after midnight. (I think they want earwax after dark.)
