We'll another year of not being drawn. I've been placing my name on the list since 1988 and have yet to draw the Elk hunt. I guess I'll just buy one. Anyone have a Elk hunt that they would recomend.I'd be looking in the New Mexico or Southern Colorado area.Since my luck doesn't run to well something with maybe a 60% sucess on a legal bull would be nice. I also lost my deer ranch this year so any of you Okies out there that know of a ranch without to big of a trespass fee throw me a bone or at least a phone# and name. Good hunting to all.

The draw in NM is over, so you'd have to spring for a landowner tag that hasn't already been bought. Prices range from $300 for a cow to over $5,000 for a trophy bull hunt. The Game and Fish has a list of landowners with tags available, but their site seems to be down. Keep checking and you'll eventually get on. I would look to the north central or southwest part of the state for good bulls if you choose to spend that kind of cash.

Rob You are just getting started if you have only been putting in for the elk hunt since '88! I grew up in Lawton, my brother and I have been applying for the elk hunt since we got old enough and I don't know how long my dad has been trying.......I finally drew a bull tag in 2001, after more than 20 years of trying! I took a nice 6X6 the first morning, but, if you ever see some of the stuff that people put a bull tag on it will break your heart! I saw guys with bull tags that killed 6" spike bulls the first morning! What a waste! I drew an antelope tag last year and took an average buck......I should have taken a better buck but I pulled the trigger too soon......... Anyway, keep trying, your odds are getting better!
