Here's the pics of my 162 Mulie from CO last fall. Not impressed on the taxidermy, He's done a much better job on all of my other mounts in the past few years.

Hell I don't see anything wrong at all! it looks very realistic and interesting to me.
Congratulations on a great deer and a great mount.

Bucko, thanks, my disappointment came from the lost hair on the shoulder points and the lost hair in his ears along with a pretty bad patch of what I thought to be a small bullet entrance hole. We cared for all three heads the same way that trip(froze) and mine was the only one that the hair came out of and the worst looking of the three. I'm not too down about it, but he is capable of so much better work, so I sort of had higher hopes. Can't argue though, he only hit me for $325.

Your mulie looks bigger than a 162. Good looking deer with nice forks.

In general, mulies don't have the lower lip showing like a whitetail does. Most all mulie bucks should have the lower lip tucked throughout.

It's a really nice buck though! I'm like you when I get my stuff done. You have a certain expectation and when it's not exactly how you imagined, it can be a bit of a let down.

Thanks guys. 162 and 1/4 is all I got from him, 16" 2s and 11" 3s. I tell you one thing, after passing several bucks for 3 days he sure looked pretty standing on the side of that snow covered canyon. I talked it over with the guide for at least 3-5 min before I let him have it. One of my main concerns was how we were gona get that rascal out of the gulch he was in. Not too wide but nice mass and tall tines. They are quite beautiful critters.

Sounds like either the taxidermist or whoever tanned the hide left it out a little too long -- and thus it began to slip. Nonetheless, it's a gorgeous animal and certainly worthy of a prime spot on your wall.

I don't see any slippage here on the ears. There appears to be some hair loss but minimal. Last fall in Colorado was quite warm, thats all it takes. Remember the ear skin is super thin. Tick damage, a ride in the back of a truck uncovered for all to see, improper freezing (rolled up tight in a bag not layed out evenly) are all possible reasons for hair loss in the ears. The shock from the bullet probably caused some hair loss in the impact area. The field care afterwards along with the hike out also probably resulted in some damage. Please don't trash the taxidermist who mounted this. I don't know who mounted it but at $325 he or she didn't even make minimum wage. Its a nice commercial mount for clients. You get what you pay for. After materials, shipping and overhead this poor guy or gal didn't even make $100 for a ton of work!

I can gaurantee you he made more than 100 bucks Smiler He doesn't mind showing what he spends on materials and he can mount one very quickly. It's just a side job for him. We cared for three deer the exact same and this was the last one shot and none of the others slipped. I think he left it out too long, crap happens...

I'm not mad at the taxidermist at all, this was just the worst mount I've seen come out of his shop. He's done great on all of my other mounts and he's mounting another shortly (whitetail from Iowa). I'll keep using him.

Can't beat his prices for the quality and there are no other taxidermist within 2 hours that have the quality and most of their prices are at least 100+ more.
