Hi folks,

Not at all certain which forum to try this on so I'll start here. I'll be in Utah during the first week of June for a course. Is there any hunting to be had at that time of year? I'm guessing hogs would be the only game in town, and that would be fine with me. If you have any ideas, please pass them on.

Never hunted Utah, but what about bears? Would the season be open?

Jackrabbit: Not protected — may hunt anytime without license

You might have had a chance for Black Bear the last week of may, but the application period for the 2006 black bear drawing ended on February 28 at 11:00 p.m. MST.

Go fishing. That's probably the best bet.

I would look into taking a float trip down the Green River. Some great trout fishing.

That is an excellent suggestion. The seven miles below the Gorge dam is a world class trout stretch and Flaming Gorge is host to numerous state records including 50+ lb mackinaw. Closer to SL is also Strawberry resivoir which has some big cutthroats or the Provo river if your into fly fishing. Make sure you read the proclimation though. They all have strict slot limits.
