Well I got the good news last week I'm PCSing to Ft Carson, CO. How is the hunting in that area and what are the gun laws like up there. Being here in Arizona were the gun laws are pretty liberal that is a good thing are Colorados similar. I won't be leaving until January so I will be able to put in for the draw next year. Are there any good gunshops in the area unlike here they have ne gunshop and it is horrible. Anyhow comments will be appreciated.

Hi 323. I'm in Colorado Springs. Hunting is so so in the Pikes Peak region. Fishing is great. Actually unit 591 which is the Ft. Carson training land is about the best hunting around here. Lots of bear, turkeys, elk and some big mulies around there. I don't know about military personal but access to the general public is kind of a hassle. You have to check in at 7:30 AM, after prime sunrise time hunting and check out no later than 5:00 PM, before prime sunset hunting. If you are a minute late they will get mid evil on your ass. Mostly pinion/ juniper/ oak brush. Gentle rolling hills and a few small mesa's. Also, they assign you a certain block of land to hunt away from exercises. What is good about that is the cannon fire usually pushes game to the land block you are hunting Big Grin. Like I said it may be different for you since you are active duty. PM me if you want to talk some more, welcome and enjoy your stay.

Hi 323! Got assigned here back in 1978, reassigned twice and came back each time. Retired now from the Air Force. Lots of good areas also once you are up in the mountains. Prairie dogs within 30 feet...but you can't shoot them on Ft C! Gun laws just as liberal as AZ and we have gunshops in town. Welcome to God's country.
