This years youth hunt was oct17-18.

My youngest son shot his first deer on the 17th. He was able to hunt last year but never fired a shot. We went to a spot close to home where he also has a doe tag. I figured he would end up getting a chance at a doe. On the way there we realized we had forgotten our rope and I asked him how we we going to drag it out now. He said we could just drag it by the antlers. I said "so you think your going to get a buck huh?" We had never shot a buck here before but had seen them. He was right about getting a buck.

My oldest son and I went out friday morning and we didnt see any bucks but he was able to get these two does. Two shots two deer.

The mule deer was shot with H&R single shot 20 gauge with SST slugs. The whitetail doe one with 30-06 180e-tip and the other 130 Barnes TTSX.

If I remember right you took an elk earlier this year. Doesn't look like you'll be buying much domestic meat any time soon!

Well done.

If you get a chance, maybe another picture or two of the buck?

Its 22 1/2" wide and the long points are 10" long. Pretty neat for a first deer.

We do have some meat. I shot two mule deer does and a bull elk with my bow.

The general season starts this Saturday.
