Minnesota's annual deer hunting season began on Saturday the 7th, and goes for either 1 or 2 more weekends depending on where one hunts.

Weather was very warm and windy in the east central part of the state where I hunted.

Saw 8 deer. 2 bucks. Have an antlerless permit but decided on bucks only for the weekend.

Got a decent shot off from the little .308 Winchester on a nice little 4 pointer. Clean miss. So I congratulated him on his victory, thanked him for the opportunity, and now I hope nobody else shoots him so he can have some fun breeding lots of does for the next few weeks during the rut. He earned it!!

Couple more weeks for us and the orange army will invade the woods....

Shot this 8 point buck yesterday morning after not seeing anything after hunting opening weekend and all day Saturday hunting over two weekends. He chased some does into the field I was overlooking at about 8 am and paused long enough for me to shoot. 210 yard shot with my .270 from the foxhole I dug last weekend. Was dead less than 10 seconds after I first saw it. It is warm this week so I called my brother after driving home and we butchered and packaged it up last night. Got a little over 80 pounds of venison, even after having to toss most of the front shoulders after the 130 grain Gamekings tore them up good. I have been deer hunting for over a decade now and had yet to even see a buck in the field while actually hunting them, so I am pretty happy now with how the season ended. Three out of the four deer I last shot were taken on the Sunday of the second weekend of the season like this one- I guess its my day.

I shot a small 8 pointer on the third day of the season south of Birchdale; my son in law shot one the second Saturday hunting down south.

I love deer season on MN; spent most of November in MN but it was 80 deg when I landed in PHX Monday and nice to go do some long range shooting yesterday without freezing my fingers.
