Wis just issue new black bear population estimates. They are saying that we now have at least twice as many bears as they thought.
They have been hovering around 11000 to 13000 for years now they are saying we have around 26000 plus. It remains to be seen if the double the number of kill tags.
They count wolves just as well as they counted the bears before.

Sure sounds like a HUGE Black Bear population to me. How do they Hunt them in Wisconsin? What is considered a typical and then a BIG Bear up there?
Best of luck on the wolves. Just remember it was the "democrats" (clinton/babbet) who figured it was a great idea to reintroduce them into areas where they had been Killed out.

No, it wasn't. The reintroduction plans were developed by the USF&WS under Reagan and Bush 1, who also signed the legislation approving experimental populations under the ESA as well as the funding to do so. Remember too that Jim McClure (R-ID) was Chairman of the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources in the 80's when all that went through. He was also a supporter of wolf reintroduction.
Here in Wyoming, we are already hunting them. The state has already set their kill quota's for the Trophy area's. I believe they are just waiting for the final go ahead on June 28 I believe. Come out and shot one or two.

Our useless DNR finally admits it cannot count. Now if they would admit the deer population is about half of what they claim it to be we will be all set. I hope the bear permit numbers go up. If they do for 09 I might draw with four points.

Well, I did not draw for Utah or Colorado. I am going to TX for antelope but I will go into withdrawals if I don't go somewhere else.
I'd love to wolf hunt but I wouldn't have a clue where to go.
Ted Kennedy's car has killed more people than my guns
The more I think about clinton/babbet putting the wolves back in, it really surprises me that anyone in those areas would have ever voted for them. Pitiful!

We shoot a few over 600 very year some over 500 more over 400 lots around 150 or so. I will not draw for another 4 years or so. I killed a 490 2years ago. But with the new numbers maybe I'll get a tag sooner.
