Been hearing a lot of reports of EHD hitting their deer herds hard this year. My area has thankfully not been affected as of yet this year. We got hit about 6 years ago. Had a couple nice shooter bucks go down. Just interested if you have been finding evidence of this and where. "Conservation through Hunting"

Southern states such as Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi lose deer every year to EHD. It's been here for years and years. Some years are definitely worse than others for number of dead deer. More northern states, and mid west states seem to be more affected each year. Dr Joe Ables, Texas vet says the virus and transmitting midges are moving northward, in addition to striking sooner here in the Deep South. Usually it's an Aug/Sept killer but this year it started several months earlier. Some of the deer farmers(high fence) folks are getting hammered in Texas, Louisiana, etc... Birmingham, Al

It's hit here in Idaho from time to time. Interesting how almost nobody cares here if WT get hammered, but if it went through our Elk, then you would hear the moaning and crying. Deer just are not that big of a deal here.

I was in eastern Nebraska last weekend and the farmers there were talking about finding dead deer in water holes. Sounds like EHD maybe. 465H&H

Heard of several dead deer found here in the Flint Hills region of Kansas. I have also had a friend that got permission from W&F Officer to put a sick one down. He took pictures of it before hand up close. The poor thing could barely stand. It was a pretty decent buck, also. Knute

EHD came though ares of middle TN several years ago and wrecked Havoc with the herd. 17 dead deer were found on 750 acres I hunt. 3 does per day have also reduced the herd and likely slowed recovery where the EHD hit hardest Don't limit your challenges . . . Challenge your limits
