The photo was taken in the mid-1970s about 50 yds. from our driveway after a night-time snowfall. It's the Vallecito River, looking north into the Weminuche Wilderness area. It was a sight we had to endure through our kitchen window for three years when we owned a resort at Vallecito Lake, just northeast of Durango, CO.

The lake is above 8K ft., and the tallest mountains in the background are over 14K. There are a couple others back there, as well. I put a lot of miles on horseback while guiding hunters and anglers in that back-country. Now, I wouldn't be able to breathe up there even with my oxygen.
