Possible fatal bear mauling08 August 2009, 17:18
NortonSomehow, someway the anti's will spin this into being the fault of hunters. People who feed bears should be fed to bears. Sorry, but they exacerbate a worsening problem of interaction unhealthy for bears(and sometimes 73 yo ladies!!!).

RaySenderoYa Know the "spin" usually comes from generalizing about bear habits, ways, actions. It may apply to the population as a whole.
BUT...The exceptions can and will kill!PS: This is true of many species.

L. David KeithOne thing Bears have never understood; All gone! A two pound bag of cookies is only a snack to any Bear, and once they're gone, the Bear thinks you have more and are with holding them. Too bad, some people lack common sense.

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......
"If you're being chased by a Lion, you don't have to be faster than the Lion, you just have to be faster than the person next to you."
It will probably be a few more days before the coroner determines whether the old gal suffered death-by-yogi or was just a convenient snack. Either way, damned shame.
Nonetheless, seems to be an exemplary case of stupidity. They built an enclosure on the back of the house to feed the bears from. Yeah, great idea, until you gotta step out.

Big Bore Boar HunterBy all means, all liberals should be given bear feeding kits, this way they can see the bear's natural habitat and behavior first hand!

You should spend some time in the political forum, several bear meals there usually.
Leftists are intellectually vacant, but there is no greater pleasure than tormenting the irrational.

wetdog2084people forget that black bears are predators and can and will kill their food it amazes me that people think that they are harmless "clowns of the woods"

Gerrypeters375I hunted black bear in north Central Ontario for about 10 years. (Nipissing District) In that time I heard about two young boys fishing in Algonquin Provincial Park being set upon and killed by a female black (tracked down and killed later) and an engineering student working as an intern (on a logging road survey) who was killed by a black. (He apparently had his lunch in a knapsack) Yes, blacks are not grizzlies - but blacks (according to the stats) have made many more attacks on humans than grizzlies - maybe because the blacks see humans more often - and all bears are dangerous animals -regardless of species. (If we ever can get the general public to understand that the animals shown on Disney films or in those cute cartoons are not the same as the animals in the wild, it would be helpful.
