My 30-06 shot the 165 spire and RN really well. However I used the RN from my deer stand with most shots under 100yards. It killed really well. Had a good supply, now running out. Went online and can't find any. Looks like Speer quite making them. Any recommendations on alternatives. Just a personel favorite. Help appreciated. Thanks.

Marty, A round nose fan here also. Speer quit making them quite a few years ago now. Also canned my favorite 338 bore bullet the 275 grain Semi Spitzer. Looks like you will either have to move up to the 180 RN or down to the 150. The good old 220 RN is still a good 200 yd load at 2400 fps. ( 3inches high at 100 yds, should be dead on a 200) Just really conserve the last of your 165 RNs for shooting at game only.

maybe some nosler 170 grain round nose bullets. Bet they do the trick. Open up fast and penetrate.

Hey Martym and Seafire, You might give a call to Gordy or Dave at LOLO Sporting Goods (208) 743-1031 and see if they have any now. They are the Distrubutor for Speer Over-runs and will often have bullets at incredible prices. They had the Speer 30cal 150gr RN Hot-Cor bullets a few years ago for $4.99/100. I was looking for the 165gr RNs at that time and they had none on-hand. A call to Speer showed about 20K of the 165gr RNs in stock at that time. They may still be there, or they may have been sent to LOLO. Gordy or Dave could get them from Speer if they are still in Inventory, but they would be fairly high since they would be requesting them from Speer rather than Speer offering them to LOLO at a HUGE mark down. Then again, it has been long enough now that LOLO may have some of them.

Hornady and Sierra both discontinued their .277" 150-gr. round-noses last year. I'm still sick about it. Is nothing sacred??? RSY

Orion 1: Yes, I have some S&B that I bought to use for foulers only. The jacket material looks to be brass, which gives me reservations about performance. Plus, they seem to be VERY hot in my rifle (primers extremely cratered and backing out). For factory stuff, the Remington Cor-Lokt would be my go-to round. The 150-gr. Remington is a wonderful bullet. But, I'm a handloader, so it's component bullets I'm looking for. Alas, Remington only sells their 130-gr. PSP as components. I recently came across a box of Sierra Pro-Hunter RN's on the "used" shelf at my local shop that should last me for awhile. Then what? RSY

Marytm, Hawk Bullets makes some very nice round tip bullets that are kind of a hybrid between a spitzer and round nose. 165 gr .308 is offered in two jacket thicknesses. WWW.hawkbullets.com Wes
