Hey Gari, I don't see anything to flame about - GREAT hunting story. You might mention that Sky Harbor International is located in ... But the things that makes a hunting story worth remembering are all the details. Excellent use of descriptive words that verbaly drew vivid images of what you were seeing. And it is so wonderful to hear about your two families hunting together. Cherish every moment and every memory because they will serve you well as you grow old and look back on them. Stick this story in a 3-ring binder with the flicks and you will get a lot of pleasure from it as time passes. Though a Kill is wonderful, it isn't the only thing that makes a great Hunt. Congratulations to you and your buddies on a fine Hunt.

I'm still reading the story, but if you want to email me some pictures I can post them for you. Or you can upload them to Photobucket and post them with Terry's directions: How to Post Pictures Edited: I finshed the story -- sorry that you did not connect but it sounds like you had a good hunt.

KG, Nice report, and welcome to the world of the javelina. From your description, I'll guess you hunted the San Carlos reservation. Lots of javelina to be found there. I have several out-of-state friends hunting there now who have attended the annual Steenkin Peeg Hunt I put together for a decade on either the SC or or the White Mountain reservation. They'll be here at the house for a lasagna dinner tomorrow night. So I'll let you know how they made out. -TONY P.S. If those half-moon bites didn't have a LOT of shredded cactus "hairs," they were likely done by livestock. Tony Mandile - Author "How To Hunt Coues Deer"

OW, Bingo! Glad to see you know your stomping grounds. Thanks for the kind words also. As far as the cattle, I saw a few getting after the grass at the base of the nopale, but with bite marks only 1 to 1.5" across in them, I figured pigs. Hope your boys get into them! Cheers, KG ______________________ Hunting: I'd kill to participate.

Kamo, Spoke with my buddies this a.m. just as they were leaving the reservation to head here. They went 2 for 4, and the other two guys missed their chances, as you did. -TONY Tony Mandile - Author "How To Hunt Coues Deer"

Can't ask much more than that, right? Hope their time out there was as much fun as ours. Any idea what unit they were in? We had 26A. Thanks for the follow-up in any event, and cheers. KG ______________________ Hunting: I'd kill to participate.

KG, They were also in 26A. They stayed at the casino and hunted toward the lake on the road that heads south from Hwy. 70 right there. It's the same area we hunted several years ago on the Steenkin' Peeg outing. We actually camped about 10 miles south of the highway. That year, I think we went 6 for 8. -TONY Tony Mandile - Author "How To Hunt Coues Deer"

Gotcha'. Question: any nightmare stories about the Apache Gold accomodations? We originally had a reservation (pun unintended but appreciated!) there, but after looking at some online guests' ratings, thought better of it by a landslide. Thanks both for the input and commentary here, and your sharing of wisdom and experiences in your tales. I'm one of many that don't comment all that much, but enjoy the well-written freebies by you and others. ______________________ Hunting: I'd kill to participate.

KG, No real horror stories on the accommodations, but there were a few comments over the hours the guys spent here Monday before catching their flights home. Most notably was something like, "The camp and food on Tony's pig hunts are first class compared to the casino." One of the reasons they stayed there was the fact one of the guys works for Best Western, so he got them decent rates for the two rooms. -TONY Tony Mandile - Author "How To Hunt Coues Deer"

OK. Just for S& G, check out this roasting by guests. Pretty funny, actually (unless you were the one writing the review!). Ouch! http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g31343-d74000-R...ona-m10782.cink_html ______________________ Hunting: I'd kill to participate.

KG, Read them all. What I find humorous is that one guest says it's good and others say it's bad. No accounting for taste, huh? -TONY Tony Mandile - Author "How To Hunt Coues Deer"
