I drew a buck antelope tag and bison tag this year. This was only my 2nd try on bison so probably ought to buy a lotto ticket soon.

Anyway I have a place near the wyoming border and traveled over several times over the last 3 months looking for a speed goat and buff.

Normally the speed goats are pretty easy but saw very few this year and took the first one in range.

This guy was on private prop.

Got this guy at around 200 yards. Not very big but like I said not too many goats around.
This was south of Pinedale in Mesa area.

The buffalo hunt is a little different kind of hunt.
I had an "any" buffalo tag.
It's not that hard to find one the trouble is finding one that has wandered out of Teton Park.
They know the boundary that is for sure.
The place was loaded with cow elk hunters who were very helpful and giving info on where the buffalo were.
Trouble was, the cow elk hunters could hunt the park, I couldn't and guess were the buffalo hung out.
I made a couple trips but didn't connect till this last weekend.
I've always been partial to Idaho scenery but the wyoming scenery was ok.

It was around 7 degrees.
I finally found a bull on the right side of the line.

These bison tags are a once in a life time deal. Like I said it was a different type of hunt. It's all a matter of luck to find one in the right place.
Fish and GAme said openning weekend was pretty good and then the entire herd high tailed it back to the park and that with lack of snow the hunting had been pretty slow.

Used an older model 70 375 h/h with 300gr triple shock. Took a 75 yard shot and it dropped like a sack.
Everybody told me that with the big hump the trick is to aim low and then aim a little lower.

Congratulations!

I used to look at those same mountains from the other side when I lived in Idaho Falls.

Wow, That was over 25 years ago, I'm getting old.
