I checked my 2 wildview digital game cams this weekend. They had mostly does, spotted fawns, one spike, a small 6pt, a couple racoons, and one grey fox. Anyone looking for a cheap digital camera may want to give the wildview a look. They only cost $49 at Walmart and accept SD cards. If someone steals them, I haven't lost much. So far out of several hundred pictures in the last few weeks, almost all of them have been of deer, very few were of small game or nothing at all. Nothing fancy, but they'll get the job done. Here's the little buck: & a couple doe: Reloader

Nice flicks. That little joker "has the potential" to amount to something. Thanks for the flicks.

Nice, reloader. Check out this picture taken by my brother's buddy here in California (around the end of July, I think): -eric " . . . a gun is better worn and with bloom off---So is a saddle---People too by God." -EH

Nice Teat Hound, This is my first go with digital trail cameras. It's pretty neat seeing all of the deer. The pictures from these cameras aren't as good as the more expensive cameras but they give me and idea of what's around. This was from a Wildview .3 MP digital camera, available at Walmart for $49. They run off of 4 C cell batteries, the good Duracell and Energizer batts will run them for about a month depending on the setting and the amount of pics it takes. Cheap batteries last about 2 weeks. I picked up a couple 128MB SD cards from ebay for $11 shipped (that included both cards) and these cards are good for over 600 pics each. I usually just take one card and swap. Ya'll have a good one, Reloader

Yeah HC, if one of the "If it's brown its down" hunters on the refuge near by doesn't smoke him he should be a nice buck in a couple years. It'll be fun watching him in person while I'm bow hunting in a few weeks. Maybe his grandpa will stroll by Reloader

Hey TH, Is that the 2nd, 3rd, etc, series in a string of shots, or was it the first flick? Wondering if the Buck heard the camera or saw it flash? It sure seems focused on where the camera is located. Nice, nice Buck. The Velvet can fool a person on occasion, but it can't fool us on the width compared to the ears. NICE Buck! I see 350RemMag written all over that shoulder!

Based upon the size of the image as it was originally sent to me, I'm not real sure that is was a trail-cam pick, to be honest. We should all be so lucky! -eric " . . . a gun is better worn and with bloom off---So is a saddle---People too by God." -EH

Hey TH, Nice flick regardless of where it came from. Sure does look like it has the Camera(and perhaps the person) under close scrutiny. Even caught myself holding my breath when the flick popped in to view. Now I catch myself thinking about that flick when I'm just sitting around. No doubt in my mind I'd Kill it if the opportunity presented itself. I prefer to Hunt the Lowcountry, but..., Have Gun - Will Travel. I feel sure you are aware that a Deer can be 6' from you in a good bit of the Lowcountry and you can't even see it. You might smell it during the Rut or hear it scrape the underbrush, step on a leaf/twig, but might not see it. In TH's flick, I've just had better luck driving a Bullet through a "small amount" of light scattered brush, briers, or a row or two of Beans with a good HEAVY Bullet. Something like a 35cal Fred Barnes Original SP with the 0.032" Jacket(still have 77 stashed away) or a Nosler Partition. Just not the place I'd choose the weenie bullets and Varmint Cartridge rifles. Also have a couple of other rifles that would do in the same situations with the right Bullets, but I have a LOT of confidence in Thumper to turn Deer - quickly - into venison. Good Hunting and clean 1-shot Kills.

Once the Beans, Corn and Cotten come out of the fields, there are indeed some fine l-o-n-g shot opportunities. No need for the weenie rifles and varmint Bullets. Especially between 7-21Nov of each year. Toss a Full Moon in during that time and noon becomes Prime Time. Before and after that time period, the man Hunting the Swamp has the advantage in the Lowcountry. Those old dark Bucks with the Swamp ooze dripping off their legs can be HUGE. But the edges of the Fields sure are hard to resist. And the Season is in now!

Hey KS and Hot Core, Back when I was stationed in Germany (20 years ago), I had a squad leader from "South Cakalacy" who was one crazy dude and had a real deep southern accent. He was telling about all the deer you guys have over there, and about the bean fields. He was a .270 man, if I remember correctly. I'll never forget him, as he taught me how to throw an axe. I had no idea where South Cakalacy was until I met old Sgt Fowler. You guys made me think of him today. Anyway, good luck this fall. -eric " . . . a gun is better worn and with bloom off---So is a saddle---People too by God." -EH
