has anyone tried the Northfork bullets on elk? I have sucdcessfully used partitions, old style Bearclaws and this year, Accubonds. I don't like the accubonds performance on elk, can't get any old style TBB's in 30 cal/180 grain. Just wondering if I would be any better off with Northforks or Partitions on the next elk hunt.

Thanks in advance.

I killed a big 7x7 last month in Utah with a 225 gr. North Fork from my .338. First shot from 150 yards was behind the shoulder and through both lungs. It put the big stagger on him but I like to get animals on the ground so I shot him again high through both shoulders which dropped him. Both bullets exited and internal damage was impressive. Accuracy in working up loads was extremely good.

Northfork bullets have an exceptional reputation. I do not believe you'd have a problem with them on elk. However, the partition will perform just as well, IMO, and quite frankly, I believe the TSX is just as good if not better.

I wouldn't think twice about using the North Fork in any caliber on Elk.I know a guy that shot one at over two hundred yards with his 45-70 and it worked flawlessly.

The only NFs I have taken game w/ were Mike's exc. 380gr softs in my .404. Very impressive perf. w/ everything going down w/ one shot including my smallish cape buff. The NFs have a great rep. for accuracy & it's well deserved. I've shot many sub moa groups w/ the big .404 & I am going to give some of the smaller bullets a try on elk next season (if I get drawn).

Thanks folks...just what I wanted to hear. May buy a box and compare them to my "Gold Standard"...the 180 grain Partition....unless anyone has any old style TBB's they want to sell.
