Hunting in the Adirondacks

I'm looking for some general information/impression on hunting in the Adirondacks. I've just taken a job in Lake Placid and will therefore be moving to the area. All of my hunting thus far has been in Vermont (central and northeastern) so any comparisons between the two areas would be helpful. So far, all I've heard about the Adirondacks is extremely dense forests, few deer (but large deer), and big black bears. Just wondering what I'm in for come hunting season...

Thanks,
Bob

Big woods,few deer.Hunting good,finding not so good.

There is alot of land with no deer on it.But there is
a little land with a few deer and some good ones.

Go to tupper lake and see the big bucks the locals kill
during the season. Most towns have a big buck contest.
They do kill some good ones.

Think logging areas.
