My 14 and 12 y/o and I just got back from a 7 day hunt in Idaho for Spring Black Bear. We had a great time and the weather was beautiful. Saw lots of Elk, Mulies, Eagles, caught trout etc. Bear however were seemingly non-existent that week despite using dogs in the AM and Bait in the PM.

The 12 y/o however got this beautiful 350 lb. chocolate black bear with his .243 Win. loaded with my Nosler Partitions 100gr. reloads. He chased the bear for 2.5 miles up the side of a mountain with a 30 degree slope until the bear finally treed. Placed his bullets (2) perfectly - one in chest and one in head killing the bear quickly.

What a first year of hunting for him. 1 pheasant, 1 white-tail and one big bear all in one year at age 12. Sure am proud of him.

Congratulations to these kids. That's a pretty high bar they're setting at such a tender age.

They're sure off to a good start.
