Would you believe it that the state of NJ once was so tough in criminal justice that it was executing murderers within less than 14-16 months after they were caught? The term at the time for such swift justice was " Jersey justice". It's a fact and I remember it -and that's a fact, too. Times have changed.

The only thing to do is to follow the old police motto about whether to shoot or not in dangerous circumstances - "Better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6".

Absolutely mind-boggling......I posted some pics last year on AR of 2 bears in my friend's yard during midday in the town next to West Milford......the response from most members was to "get a plane ticket" if you don't like bears. In suburban NJ?
This is the surreal norm back in my old home state, it would seem. My friend had also called both F & G and the police multiple times with absolutely no response. I guess a mayor's child will have to be mauled before anyone give's a damn. They won't help, but when a bear is growling at you in your living room they'll give you a ticket if you shoot it.

Mete Something else to add to my first post - It's all an attitude of mind -and my first post shows how the attitude of mind has changed in NJ- Now something up to date to show that NY is just the same nowadays as NJ (BTW, NY used to execute murderers just as swiftly as NY -and I remember that too)- Today, the Mayor of Rye,a town in Westchester County, NY,(right next to NYC and a surburban "bedroom" county) announced that he and his "officials" were at a loss to understand why coyotes had attacked small children within the past week. There were also TV interviews with "mothers" who were "alarmed" and "worried" about the coyotes. Asked for "solutions" the standard response was - "Something has to be done". Of course, hunting and (horrors! -shooting) was never mentioned. I really don't blame the bears and the coyotes for trying to stay alive after their habitat has been invaded - They are just simply trying to live. It's the idiot people who want to keep wiping out wild areas -and still want to say "Oh,I love animals!". In the end, it's the hunters who love animals -not the so called "environmentalists".
