Has any used these scopes and tested the bullet compensating system?

Is it just another gadget that will inevitably break or never be of any real use?
I had a similar system on a Horton crossbow but I dismantled it and use a standard red dot on it these days, found the guesswork involved with the ranging system was more dubious than plain hold over...
