Anyone here had any on the ground experience in Unit 27 in New Mexico for Coues deer? Have a tag for the November Rifle Hunt and would like to start compiling info so as to make a pre hunt trip down that way. Thanks.

I have no prior experience in that unit, but I drew a rifle tag there for muleys this year.

Perhaps we can share intel as the months roll by.

I hunted there several years back so can't speak for current conditions. There is easily accessible USFS areas on hwy between Animas and Douglas which is where I focused. Used to be a lot of Coues there but after Californians learned about it, pre draw hunts, I worked hard for less than average bucks.
