Bears should start mating later this month. Last night, we saw two cubs together several different times. One time we heard them whining.
I have never seen a Sow break up her family group but I have heard that it is extremely disturbing.
Imagine waking up one day and suddenly your loving mother kicks you out of the house and beats you almost to death when you try to return! The cubs are distraught and devastated and will whine and cry for a few weeks.
My guess is that the cubs we saw last night had recently been rejected by their mother to protect them from infanticide. Hopefully, not that many cubs will get killed in the next two months. PETA people want you to associate bears as sensitive human like creatures that live in peaceful family groups. They need to spend more time in the bear woods!

The anti-hunting, Disney crowd has done a good job of this.

A lot of hunters have fallen for it also.

We still have a foot plus of snow on the ground. I don't expects bears out for another week or so.

I keep losing cameras because bears tear them off the trees to get the batteries.
