I use the Walkers Quad Muffs purch from Natchez. They are quite light, work great. Wind noise can be a problem as someone mentioned but after a certain intensity it seems that the circuitry knows this & cuts it out.

Downside with any muff is that its hot on a hot day. Have not used it hunting yet althougth I got the cammo version just for this purpose. Have used it in Trap & Skeet & they work well & don't impair gun mount & that sort of thing.

Seems to be able to detect direction of sound pretty good as it has a forward & backward facing mic on each muff.

All in all pretty happy with it & it cuts out the muzzle blast pretty effectively. Also much cheaper than 2 game ears. Warranty sucks however, only 6 mths.Don't know how waterproof/resistant it would be either.

Well, I have used the walker game ear and the Game ear 2 for about 7-8 years. The hearing in my left ear is bad enough that I have a hard time finding the diredtion of sounds. For me, they have worked great. It allows me to adjust the hearing in my left ear to match my right. The area that I archery hunt is close to an interstate. If you are going to hunt near high traffic areas, I would find an alternative. The game ear amplifies road noise tremendously. It is about unbearable.

One other issue I have with them is during cold weather, if you pull your hat down and then move your head it really amplifies the sound of the hat rubbing on the collar.

I have noticed that they have a new insertable game ear. It is just about invisable to the eye( kind of like the miracle ear hearing device). I realy want to try them, but at $700 a pair you have to be sure.

I like them except near roads and really windy days.

Good luck!
