Came across the "Very Big Bear" thread, and thought I would share the skull pics a few of you guys requested to see. Also included is the B&C score sheet. Everyone from ADF&G, sporting good shops, taxidermists, and the official B&C measurer had an opportunity to put the calipers to the skull. It should be of no surprise they were all different measurements, thus the reason so many different stories. 28 14/16 official B&C score...

Dalliwacker:
Thats a nice Bear in anyones view. It will tie for 134th in the 1999 Boone & Crockett Records of Big Game. Number one scores 30 12/16 killed on Kodiak Is. in 1952 by Roy Lindsey. I think the important part is the story behind the kill, not the Score. Any big Bear that close WILL get your full attention!
Cheers, T.J.

I was led to believe that a skull with gun shot damage is not eligible for the record books. True? ~~~Suluuq

I thought the same. However, I learned it only was an issue if it posed a problem for measuring. As you can see, these were all clean bullet holes. The skull didn't shatter, or crack to make it ineligible for B&C. Pretty lucky guy, eh?
