Sorry to hear about your bad luck. It realy sucked up here this November. I burned more wood to heat my house in Sept and Oct than I did all November. It is a realy great place to hunt if the conditions play along. There isn't much you can do when it is in the 60s and rains non stop. Killing a deer in these conditions becomes a lucky crime of oppurtunity.

I hope you don't give up and have better luck next year, there are some big ones out there.

What Uglystick said. I hunted for a few days with a buddy of mine pretty far up, near Baxter SP, and came up empty-handed, but enjoyed the hunt a bunch just the same. The deer up there can get *enormous*, if you're lucky/good enough to find them. We saw 7 doe, a bunch of moose and I found a nice shed (with a bullet hole in it!), but no shots at Mr. Big. Like you, got no love from the weather...

I live in the Waterville, ME area.

I wish the state would push the deer season back two weeks. It would be nice to have some snow on the ground. Muzzleloading season just ended yesterday in my area. No snow yet. At least it started to cool down.

My wood pile isn't complaining.

I learned a while ago that rain is very easy to shovel, no complaints.

Brian,

I love deer hunting in ME but, with conditions like you had it is really tough going.

Did you guys stay at a camp or a wall tent?

It's a whole different ball game with 3" of fresh snow on the ground. As others have said the bucks can be huge and the deer are 'usually' up and moving with a fresh November snow.

I was unable to make it up to hunt ME this year but, I hope to spend a week or two next year.

Best Regards,
Dave

we were in a camp along one of the branches of the black river. wasent too bad propane lights and woodstove for heat. just a bad year they said it was around 9 degrees last year during the same week.
i dont let small stuff like rain and no snow through me off and spoil the trip. ill just have to go back next year.
