Aspen Hill,

You may be right, but this is one time I may be after a larger group.

Longbob: How do you remove moly residue from barrel ? You use brass brush with solvent or any more gentle method ? After oiling barrel do you wipe it until it is dry ? (long way)

I agree practice makes perfect, especially when you want to improve your penetration.

Any women hunters out there have any suggestion to the optimum caliber?

or is it the type of rifle action that is most important??

Jiri,

I'm will need to get back with you. The brass brush has me reeling right now. I'm surprised no-one has mentioned the "Bore Snake" yet.

10 March 2002, 10:48
Mark
I believe the bore snake is only needed if you use unjacketed bullets with game that has been previously tagged by one or more hunters.

Mark,

Dang, that was pretty good. Is it just me or is everybody else ashamed at how hard they are laughing at this thread? This is adding years to my life. Well.... as long as my mom doesn't find it.

Jiri,

I figured it out. Any good Molly is self cleaning. It brings the barrel right back to life.

To bad Overkill haven't posted at this thread yet.
He would probably have asked "What is the best caliber to knock one over with"

Images are popping up in my head!!!!!

I asked you because I shoot nearly every day and can't find any wear. Only thing I can't understand is when I fire quick follow up shots, I can find slight throat errosion, but when I inspect barrel before next hunt, throat is ok (maybe I need bore light and bore scoope for detailed observation).

I wonder if the muzzleloaders among us would use a ramrod?

Jiri,

You are one funny Czech. You have mastered the subtleties of the English language.

"I wonder if the muzzleloaders among us would use a ramrod?"

I'm not sure, but I will bet that they smoke after every shot.

Longbob:

On second thought, the muzzleloaders wouldn't last in this crowd. They only use one round ball.

Longbob: Until this time I could not imagine this kind of humour in other language than Czech. After reading few posts here my English is better then ever And you are one funny American too

I think your problem is that if you shoot too often, the barrel gets too hot and can dry out, have you considered re-lubricating after 4 or 5 shots.

Or if your arsenal is big enough enough perhaps alternate different rifle barrels bewteen shots.

I make do with one barrel so I periodically relube...

10 March 2002, 11:37
Jiri
rockhead: Overheating ? Do you think barrel fluting is possible ?

Anybody here use bullets with more than one lube groove ? Any advantages of more lube grooves ? Do you crimp your loads ?

10 March 2002, 11:42
Longbob
Jiri,

I am so glad that I was able to help with your English.

.....and, they have to patch that to bring it up to size. Poor guys, no wonder they call them primitive shooters.

Can anyone doubt that hunting season is over?

Muzzleloading shooters:

Patched rounds or patched bullet, that is the question

I think everyone around is having fun with this one.

as for those of you with shot guns do you prefer rifled or smoth slugs?

plus do any of these guns fire upon safty release (prematurly).

"Gentlemen....Accuracy is is everything!
Practice, practice, practice."

Does this mean shooting without a target? Why if this is the case I'd be some grandmaster by now! I'd toast them all on them speed shooting competitions! Oh, I'll keep on practicing all right!

Once again what do you guys think about jacketed hollow points? It the only kind I have to use so....

As long as nobody post pictures of their bullets or brag about calibers......

"What about target size. No one mention if they like their targets big and round or flat and skinny."

I take the ones that have the medium or big racks with a well shaped body, big bodied game doesn't quite appeal to me...but of course the game population is kinda limited so....

Has anyone eaten their game? I'd prefer eating them dressed with whip cream and strawberry. Care to share the recipes?

We all know why hunters make better lovers

They always go deeper into the bush.

They always shoot more then once.

They always eat what they shoot.!!!!!!!

The one advantage to being married is that handloading done by my spouse lets us spend some very valuable time together. I never thought her loads were as good as mine, but accuracy aside- hers seem to carry substancial downrange energy, and she can certainly reload faster than I can.
My pick for the best club- The Dollhouse in Mrytle Beach.

Best strip club? They all suck, and the girls are gay.

Plus, you get to see slobbering men, making fools of themselves, giving women money to tease them...

Naw, I almost married a stripper, and, my tennis playing, and surfing 'bud' boogie boarding friend, was a stripper.

Both, after long, and careful examination, whack jobs, in more ways then one.

Besides, what's the point? At least if you pay for a hooker, you actually get laid, not that I did not...

I got to go into clubs, on way to many days, and watch fools give them money.

The problem is, if they aren't men hating going in, after night in and night out, they despise males, because they see us at our absolute worst.

Difficult for them to separate the wheat from the chaff, if you would.
