I have seen 4 or 5 different little fork horns this year, all basically the same size but differeing enought that I can distinguish between them. The smallest was a fork on one side and a spike on the other, the largest had a fork on each side and brow tines (but still only about six inches tall and about 2 inch points). Are these all one and a half year olds? ie: first set of antlers. Anyway I have to wait for a mature buck due to land owner restrictions. (He likes his bucks big and there is nothing wrong with that). The problem is that the only buck I have had a shot at was a big ol ten pointer. And having never shot a deer with a bow and only getting to practice about a dozen times in the last year, thats just too much pressure. I need a mature buck, that isn't a once in a lifetime opportunity, to walk by. I have seen this 10 pointer twice as well as a monster eight that looked bigger than the 10. The above is all of the deer I have seen and I have no idea how old these big deer are but I am guessing about three and a half or four and a half. Where are the ones with a full set of antlers but aren't huge yet? By the way I missed that 10 pointer from my tree stand broadside at 20 yards. Oh ya and he was looking away!! I still get sick just thinking about it.

Can you shoot does on the property you are hunting? I usually shoot a doe or two, it helps you to calm down and bear down on a live animal. There is no practice for shooting live animals other than actually doing it, so if you can shoot does, I would do that.
