For boar hunting with a .308 what would be the best choise: a 180 Hornady round tip or the Sierra 180 round tip?

Why not a Sierra 165 gr. load?

I favor the Sierra make when I look for the most accuracy. The Hornady design apparently has the edge when it comes to game performance. E

Since none of the bullets are bonded I want high sectional dencity and the accuracy is not very important since I will use it for boar hunt at night at Max 50 m.
When i looked at these bullets I forgot the woodleigh and I think I will go with that one instead.

I've a hog problem here at the "ranch",100+ acres and 20 head of cattle. The feral hogs that have set up shop in our area run up to 400 lbs. and are wild and mean, chasing dogs, calves and anything else that gets in their way. I have killed over 30 in the past 4 years with various guns one of which is an old Model 600 in 308 Win. I shoot the Sierra 165 BTSP at 2700 fps for a deer load and use the same on these hogs. I have yet to shoot one more than once to put him down with this load, although I did shoot a couple of them several times just out of agravation, what they do to a hay field is criminal. Try the 165 it won't let you down.

Hornady is a much better performer on game and 9 times out of 10 just as accurate. 165 or 180gr doesn't matter.

I agree with Pecos, Sierra is great for punching paper but the hornady has much more technology built into the game performance aspect.

I must agree with the last 2 post's, I use only Hornady, I load form a 22-250- up to a 450 marlin, and use their components completly. I buy their factory loaded ammo for my brass. For the hogs I use a 450 marlin, but I must hunt them at night. I have killed them in the daytime with my '06 using the SST's right under the ear.

PS: they make good eating if they have plenty to forage on.

Do you need an extra gun..... got lotsa different bullets, different calibers and if I win the lottery (28 million) got some spare time. Will let you know tomorrow night. Hell, if I'm that rich I'll pay you to shoot those beasts and report my findings here.
