Hi all, I livei in Colorado and am leaning towards the DIY bull hunt. I've hunted North of Gunnison and had good luck there. My only issue is I have CHF and getting the elk (if I'm that fortunate) down to my truck coudl be an issue. I guess I could bring a lighter and a loaf of bread and eat it there lol Kiowa Hunting used to have inexpensive cow elk hunts but those are gone /sigh.

Regards,

Chuck

I would try and find a couple of 20yoa lads that want to learn the ropes.

Offer them room and board, experience and knowledge.

For packing.

I would find some of my friends with strong backs and weak minds.
I've thought about the same lines as you. But I'd take a salt and pepper shaker and a roll of toilet paper rotflmo

You might seriously think about a RFW hunt. The ranches I've hunted on, drive you around the ranch in a pickup or a side by side. When elk are spotted up stalk up on them and if you make a kill. They drive their vehicle with a winch on the roll bar in their bed and winch the elk into the back. It depends on the ranch, they have different rules.

Chuck,

I did a RFW for deer between Meeker and Craig. I saw a lot of elk and quite a few deer. RFW hunts require quite a few preference points, but I thoroughly enjoyed the hunt. I doubt I’ll ever see that much game again.

Some ranchers or guides will pack your kill on their horses for a hundred or so..pre arrange that.
