Anyone going to the 2006 SCI convention in Reno next year? I'm trying to decide if I should join and then go to the convention. I hear that it is pretty interesting.

I plan to go for at least one day.

If you are going to go to SCI, better to hold off on buying a DGR until after seeing all that is available there. It is very eye opening.

I'll be there. Flying in on the 19th and heading home on the 21st.

I'm a member of SCI, but do you have to be a member to attend?

Yes you do have to be a member to attend!!!! You can join there, or better yet do it before you go to avoid the crowds and possible lines. Pre regerster too!

it's one increadible show! Go, I'm going for all 4 days, arriving on the 17th and leaving the 22nd. I already have my room at the Alantis Hotel, (thanks to Kathi) It's right next to the convention center.

Try to go for at least 2 days or more, there's always alot to see and do, from auctions all day and seminars to tons of outfitters and taxidermy work.

there's also some other shows going on in the same town, like the knife show and a gun show.

Go and enjoy! AR should be getting together also, so there's something else to do!!!

I went for the first time this year and I really enjoyed it. It is so big with so much to see I was rather overwhelmed.
I had planned to attend several of the lectures offered over the 4 days but, was so distracted by it all I missed every single one....all 4 days!!! And it had nothing to do with visiting the stratigically placed bars throught out the convention center either. Smiler

You do have to be a member to attend. I also recommend purchasing your event pass long before the show. The line of folks waiting to buy passes looked horrible. I would also try to book my hotel rooms in the Atlantis(now!) which is just accross the street from the show. Alot better than a cab ride or long walk.

Another point I think worth mentioning. If you are flying out the day after the convention ends get to the airport early!!! I was at baggage check in before the sun came up and there was already a line! I also had to argue
for a taxi to the airport and ended up sharing a ride and picking up the tab just to keep the peace.

If you do go certainly make time for the ACGG show and Custom Knife makers show as well.

Regards,
Dave

My son and I spent so much time in the booth with our PH's that we missed the AR get-together. Will be sure to make it this next year. Staying at the Atlantis, and will plan on attending at least 2 days.

Last year I took my wife, but we were only able to get one day in at the show. During the show she asked if we could go again next year..... and could it be for more than just one day... Big Grin

We will be there for Thurs, Fri, and Sat but I think we may skip out one day and go skiing. At least for part of the day..

We are staying at the Atlantis as well. Should be a great time and I am looking forward to meeting some of you there. Mike

My Little Round Buddy and I will be there. We are also staying at the Atlantis, and getting together there for a drink or three sounds great. I will be looking forward to it.

While some who are hypercritical of SCI think the convention is a waste of time, I don't. I had the opportunity to visit with a bunch of outfitters and I booked two trips while there. It is one heck of a show and worth the expense. See you all there.
