I am considering a subscription to Eastman's Hunting Journal.
What are your thoughts regarding this magazine?

Looking for a real step up from Petersen's Hunting type mag.

Regards,
Dave

Good magazine. Most of the articles are written by subscribers of the magazine detailing their own hunts. ALL atricles are on western big game. U.S. and Canada. Good pictures also. TTS

I have a subscription...I like it.Most stories are regular
guys on DIY hunts. And is a mix of western BG as well as
some Alaskan/Canadian BG hunts.I think it's better than
Petersons.

I subscribe to Eastmans and really like it. The positives are:
+ Lots of photos of big animals harvested
+ Most if not all stories by members
+ Trophy region supplement gives info on drought/winter kill
+ Numerous "X" issues - Elk Issue, Mule Deer, Sheep, etc..
+ No high fence hunting.

Know going in you won't read about whitetails in your neck of the woods. If you don't mind that and enjoy reading about out west hunts/locations, I'd recommend.

I saw their TV show last night...incredible shots of the Eastman's 1960's hunting trips to the Northwest Territories and British Columbia for Dal and Stone sheep...
Beautiful footage shot with hand wound super-8 cameras. Much better than today's overproduced hunting videos shot out of a treestand/blind over feeders in fenced hunting enclosures... These guys were the real deal. They weren't out pimping products or outfitters True big game hunting, in many ways pioneers when it came to hunting videos and modern sheep hunting...
I was impressed enough with the TV show I ordered the magazine....
