rwj, thanks for the good advice, I do practice allot with my rifles and all of it is long distance, it's funny nobody said anything about the mule deer's in this area except they were in velvet. All four of us got a draw on mule deer which I thought was strange given the odds, maybe deer hunting is not that big in this area, I don't know since I've never been their before. Thanks for all the advice. dbuck

dbuck: We saw lots of mule deer near Craig and I bet that most of the folks who hunt there see them too...it is just that elk and elk hunting is a thing unto itself and holds the attention of more hunters than mule deer do. There are staggering mule deer in the area. The outfit I was hunting with, Elkhorn Outfitters, charges about the same price for mule deer as they do for elk hunts.....elk hunts are more expensive, but not by much. Most of the money spent on these hunts I am sure goes to gaining access to private land with lots of animals and few hunters....and it is worth every penny. I hope you kill a big elk..and then a big deer. Take lots of photos and post them.
