AR Room at DSC... question

I'm two days back at home after visiting Texas, attending the DSC Show and enjoying a short hunt as well.
Firstly, I really enjoyed the Show and congratulate DSC on the very well organised and presented event. Made me proud of my DSC membership.
I met a few people with whom I have corresponded over several years and had pre-arranged a meeting with AR's JTEX so we did get to shake hands and chat briefly before he had to attend to a hunt enquiry. And thankyou Mr. JTEX, sir, for your gracious welcome and kind offers of any assistance.

I was aware of the downstairs AR Room, saw the signs, and thought I should drop in and perhaps introduce myself to any AR guys present. Actually, I popped down to the room several time over two days and found only a locked entrance. So, my question ( without attempting to sling mud ) is... was this room used at all during DSC, and if not....why ?
Cheers

It has certainly been open in past years. I did not try to go this year.

I was going to suggest to Karl that he discontinue the AR room. It is gracious of him to arrange it, but it receives little to no use. I find that I get so wrapped up in the show that I lose track of time until they announce that it's time to leave :-)

I stopped by the room at approxiamatly 12 noon-ish 2-3 years ago and it was locked. So, we stopped by a couple hours later and an AR members's Wife (sorry, forgot the name) said that the key was lost/misplaced by the hotel/management.

Perhaps a stand right at the show entrance with a few tables would draw more folks. The meeting room was a bit out of the way.

It's not an AR show....we're just a small part of the whole picture. The AR Room was a nice gesture by Karl, due to his involvement with AR, but if we don't use it, there's no sense in it being arranged.

how do you use it if no one can get in?

a simple note with some plain simple words on it would make it more used.
you know something really simple like.
[open 2-4PM Friday]

you could probably shorten Friday to Fri. and not use the brackets if Ink was in real high demand.

Hi JTEX,
The hunt:
100% enjoyable,
50% successful - shot a Blackbuck, couldn't close the deal on Axis Buck. Definitely looking at it as a glass half full situation. A pity I couldn't allow more time for Axis which are well educated re hunters.
William was happy to be remembered and said you guys had a really good time.
I enjoyed William's company. He barbequed some Blackbuck filet mignon backstrap on my last night and gave me some to take on the return to Houston - wonderful fare ! I ate the last of it while waiting at IAH for my homeward flight. I didn't care about the sideways glances from curious onlookers !
Hope to get back to Texas someday, and maybe being better organised about visiting you.

Jon,
It was a great gesture. Nothing like location, location, location....A small area at the main entrance with a few overstuffed chairs would be great for AR members and should attract new members as well if DSC would allow it at a fair price. Got to be much less costly than a whole meeting room. Lots of folks would stop by for 5 minutes on their way in the door if AR was right there in front of them.
Thank you Karl.
