Today, by state law, was opening day for bear here. I got the chance to see one youngster, about 150 lbs, jump into a pond and do a belly flop, roll around in the mud and then leave. Great. Took my rifle for a hike, back at it tomorrow.

I've got a tag in my pocket too, but didn't make it out today. Main focus will be helping my buddy fill his Mtn goat tag on Tuesday, then we'll make room for the bear.

Good luck to you both as well. It's gonna be a little harder this year to find a bear in the woods. They are mostly in town here in search of food. The late freeze got the berries and appears to have gotten most if not all of the acorns.

My buddy who lives in the unit we'll be hunting says all the berries are gone, but there is a bumper crop of acorns. I hope he's right.

Good luck guys!

Man, I am excited for y'all! Good luck!

I considered sitting in one of my tripods the other evening down here and trying to put an arrow in a hog. At 106* I opted out for after the first front pushes us back into the cooler temps of the low 90's Cool.

Post pics of the hunts.
