My son came up for 5 days of bear hunting last night up early and on the road by 5am

We meet up with my friend Steve said a very nice bear hit a bait at about 4am.

We released couple of the dogs and they jumped the bear short put another 3 dogs on and the chase was on.

About 40 minutes and some driving around to get o the other side of the river we could hear the dogs treeing.

A 1/4 mile walk in and we found the bear up a big white pine.

I could tell it was a shooter at first sight.

We caught up the dogs ties them back position my son for a nice clear shot.

At the shot the bear head slammed against the tree and it dropped right out.

My friend Steve said that a dead bear I agreed.

About then it get up and as it is running through the brush 3 more shots are taken at it.

We have great bold trail and we release the dogs again.

off they roar and we him them catch the bear a couple of hundred yards away.

As we get up to them we are now in a ash swamp up to are knees in much and water the bear is backed up against some roots. As we steak in on it.

The bear sees us and starts to move He clears the dogs and my son fires slamming the bear to the ground.

The bear bonces up and goes about 20 feet and stops and turns on the dogs a shot to the center of its head from about two feet ends it.

The bear is dead in two feet of water and 500 yards from the truck.

Where as the first shot we were only 90 yards from a logging road.

4 hours later and lots of pulling we arrived at the trk.

The bear weighed 295lbs dressed.

Bears don't drag easy at all luckily one of the guys had a plastic deer sled and we used that.

Save our butts for sure still it was tough going.

Not a hunt that we well forget.

If some one wants to post pictures I can email them just pm me your email.

Son was shooting my 30-06 03 scout with 220 gr rem RN at 2300. (must have been a defective bullet rotflmo )

He is a great shot but as I stated many times stuff happens.

Checked the scope it was dead on. Watched the video looked good.

Never got it -- can you resend? Maybe you need to send them one or two at a time.

Thanks Whitworth first picture is the area around the base of the tree where we shot the bear.

A10 year old aspen clear cut rather thick. visibility around 15 feet with the leafs on,

Second picture of the Bear about 30 feet up a big white pine we have found the bears prefer to climb them. But not always.

Last picture is the results of a drag through swamps and the clear cut was only about 400 yards but knee deep muck, water and then the clear cut.

Pulling a 290 plus lb bear isn't easy through thick brush, swamp and muck, It was way to thick get a 4 wheeler in.
