Took this guy this morning. I was looking to see if any bucks were out when I noticed something odd. There's a little "cove" within a thicket that should have had a soft shadow at this hour of the morning. There was no shadow, just a continuation of the color of dry foliage. That's because the male bobcat was standing within it and waiting for unsuspecting cottontails coming to a feeder. His coat blended perfectly into the environment, and had I not been familiar with the way the terrain should appear, I never would have noticed him.

The 'cat was angling towards me. The 150 grain AB took him on the front of the shoulder and exited mid-ribs ( exit was slightly smaller than the size of a nickel). The damage in between was impressive, however, and the cat dropped on the spot and never even twitched.

Lucky for us our South Tx bobcats don't carry Contenders like ya'lls do. I guess you got him before he got you!

Nice Cat.

The Hunt goes on forever, the season never ends.

I didn't learn this by reading about it or seeing it on TV. I learned it by doing it.

Joe-

I've taken 5 since last November. Overall, between trapping and calling (haven't been able to do those 2 activities in a LONG time) and the incidentals like this one, there have been several dozen that I have taken over the years.

NICE BOBCAT.

I have shot several nice bobcats in the last few years, here on my place that were killing my ducks.

I have also seen several pictures from deer feeder cameras, where big bobcats have taken down and killed some pretty big trophy deer.

They are pretty hard on turkeys as well.

The average person would be surprised on how many game animals a bobcat kills in a year...
